CODE OF CONDUCT
v1.0 — Effective 6 May 2026
ZDPrinting D&D Sessions — for DMs and Players
1. Why We Have a Code of Conduct
ZDPrinting runs Dungeons & Dragons sessions for a wide range of players, many of whom are children. Our number-one job is making the table a place where everyone, especially younger players, feels safe, included, and respected.
This Code applies to everyone at the table. Breaches by Players may result in removal from the Session without refund. Breaches by DMs may result in suspension or termination of their contractor agreement.
2. The Basics — Everyone
- Treat everyone at the table with respect, regardless of age, gender, sexuality, race, religion, ability, or experience level.
- No harassment, bullying, slurs, or hateful language.
- No discriminatory jokes or behaviour, including "it was just a joke"-style comments.
- Respect the venue, the venue staff, and other patrons. Clean up after yourself.
- Listen when others are speaking. Don't talk over players or the DM.
- If someone tells you to stop a behaviour, stop. You don't need to agree with them.
3. Content at the Table
D&D involves storytelling that can include conflict, danger, and difficult themes. The DM is responsible for keeping content age-appropriate and safe.
3.1 Sessions involving any player under 18
- No sexual or sexually suggestive content of any kind. This is a hard rule and cannot be overridden by parental or player consent.
- No romantic content beyond mild, age-appropriate references (e.g. an NPC's spouse exists).
- Violence is permitted at a level appropriate to the youngest player at the table. No graphic torture, sexual violence, or detailed gore.
- No content involving the abuse, exploitation, or sexualisation of children, ever, in any framing.
- No real-world drug, alcohol, or self-harm references presented approvingly.
- Horror and intense scenes should be telegraphed in advance and dialled down on request.
3.2 Sessions where every player is 18+
- The DM must run a session zero (or check in at the start of session one) about content limits.
- Mature content is permitted only by clear agreement of every player at the table.
- Even with full adult consent, sexual content is faded to black; explicit roleplay is not permitted at ZDPrinting tables.
3.3 Safety tools
Every DM must offer at least one safety tool at the start of each campaign or one-shot. Suggested tools:
- Lines and veils — "lines" are topics that won't appear; "veils" are topics that happen off-screen.
- X-card — a card or signal any player can use to immediately stop and skip the current content, no questions asked.
- Open door — any player can step away from the table at any time without explanation.
DMs must respect safety tool use immediately and without negotiation.
4. Specific Rules for DMs
- Arrive at least 15 minutes before the scheduled Session start.
- If you are 18 or over, hold a current Working with Children Check (WWCC) before running any Session involving Players under 18, and provide your WWCC number to ZDPrinting for verification. (DMs under 18 are exempt under section 8(1) of the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012 (NSW), but every other rule in this Code still applies.)
- Never be alone with a Player under 18 in a private space. Sessions are run in public-facing areas of venues. If you need to step aside with a young Player (e.g. they're upset), do so in line of sight of others.
- Do not exchange personal contact details, social media handles, photos, or gifts with Players under 18. All communication must go through ZDPrinting's approved channels.
- Do not photograph or record Players (including their character sheets if they include real names) without ZDPrinting's and — for under-18s — parental consent.
- Do not consume alcohol or be under the influence of any drug that impairs you while running or travelling to a Session.
- Do not lend money to, borrow money from, or accept gifts from Players or their families.
- Report incidents within 24 hours using the Incident Report form.
- If a Player or parent raises a safeguarding concern, listen, do not promise confidentiality, and report it to ZDPrinting immediately.
5. Specific Rules for Players
- Arrive on time. If you're running late, message ahead.
- Don't use the Session to bully, exclude, or target other players, in or out of character.
- Don't bring drugs or alcohol to a Session.
- Phones away during play, except for digital character sheets or when the DM allows.
- Don't share personal contact details with other Players you don't already know outside the Session, particularly across age groups.
- Respect the venue's rules. Damage caused by you or your guests is your responsibility.
6. Specific Rules for Parents and Guardians
- If your child is under 14, please plan to remain in or near the venue for at least the first Session so you can be reached quickly. After that you're welcome to drop off, but emergency contact details must always be current.
- Let us know about anything we should be aware of — medical conditions, allergies (the venues may have food/drink), accessibility needs, or content sensitivities.
- Pick up on time. If you're running late, contact the DM or ZDPrinting.
- Raise concerns directly with ZDPrinting (zaden@zdprinting.com.au or 0426 558 302) rather than approaching DMs privately.
7. Zero Tolerance
The following will result in immediate removal from a Session and may result in a permanent ban from ZDPrinting Sessions:
- Violence or threats of violence.
- Sexual harassment or any sexual conduct involving another player.
- Any conduct that endangers a child, including grooming behaviour, inappropriate physical contact, or attempts to contact under-18 Players outside approved channels.
- Use of slurs targeting protected attributes.
- Theft or wilful damage of property.
ZDPrinting will report conduct that may be a criminal offence to NSW Police and, where it concerns a child, to the relevant child protection authority.
8. Raising a Concern
If something happens that you're not comfortable with — in or out of game — you can:
- Tell the DM at the table.
- Email Zaden at zaden@zdprinting.com.au.
- Message 0426 558 302 (SMS or WhatsApp).
If a child has been harmed or is at risk, contact NSW Police on 000 in an emergency, or the NSW Child Protection Helpline on 132 111.
All concerns are taken seriously. We will not retaliate against anyone who raises a concern in good faith.
9. Updates
ZDPrinting may update this Code of Conduct from time to time. The current version is published on zdprinting.com.au. DMs and Players are bound by the current version.
